Gorilla Grodd

Through millions of years of adaptation and change, human beings evolved to become the dominant species on the planet Earth. But for the super-villain known as Grodd, the world shouldn't belong to the humans. It belongs to the apes.

Hailing from the technologically advanced Gorilla City, home to hyper-intelligent primates living in their own secret, secluded society, Grodd stood apart from his fellow simians through his telepathic and telekinetic powers. Believing that his city’s benevolence was keeping the gorillas from achieving what was rightly theirs, Grodd overthrew the leader of Gorilla City and took his place—a first step in his ultimate goal of taking over the rest of the world and establishing apes as the ruling species on the planet. It was the intervention of the Flash that ultimately stopped the villain's scheme, and forever placed the two as bitter rivals.

Grodd has a brutal nature and a level of enhanced strength that make him incredibility dangerous in a physical fight. This is presuming you're even able to get close enough to him to throw a punch as his powerful telepathic abilities give him a distinct advantage over most of his enemies. Along with his strength and aggression, Grodd is also highly intelligent and a master statistician. It is this perfect combination of brain, brawn and savagery that cements Grodd's conviction of his place at the top of the evolutionary scale. And anyone who challenges his claim, will find themselves learning the true meaning of survival of the fittest.

The Flash: The Finale

“Finish Line” is probably one of the better titles for an episode of The Flash, and I’m so glad that it was used for the third season finale. Naming episodes is difficult and the traditions change from time to time. With this show in particular, a speed-related pun always appeals to me, and with the final scene of this finale episode hammering home the dual-meaning, I’ve come to appreciate it all the more.

The Lazarus Contract: Secrets and Lies

So far, “The Lazarus Contract” has been all about speed, so we’re going to jump right into it this week—okay? Make sure that you’ve read TEEN TITANS #8 before you go any further or you might risk damaging the timeline for yourself, and we certainly don’t want that.

The Flash Vol. 2 Races Through the Dark

THE FLASH VOL. 2: SPEED OF DARKNESS deals a lot with the aftermath of what writer Joshua Williamson laid down in volume one. Godspeed (a.k.a. August), has had a big effect on Barry Allen, Iris West and Wally West. Not only did the three of them all lose people they had a connection with in their civilian identities, but in their professional capacities they are all equally as affected—albeit pretty differently.

The Flash: Villains So Cold

Killer Frost has been kicking around The Flash this season in a big, bad way! We’ve known since Danielle Panabaker was cast to play the role of Caitlin Snow that there was potential for Killer Frost to emerge as an important villain for Barry Allen to face, but it’s taken three entire seasons for her to ascend to her true villainess glory—and that new costume really is everything!

The Flash: Coffee Love

If you’ve been reading this column for a while then you might remember when I wrote about my love for the QuickWest ship, and how I felt that Wally West and Jesse Quick had the strongest and most compelling romantic bond on The Flash. While QuickWest will always hold a special place in my heart and mind, the events of this week’s episode, “Cause and Effect,” may have me singing a different tune. And that tune may be drummed by none other than H.R. Wells!

Unbuttoning "The Button": Easter Egg Extravaganza

Part two of the four-part Rebirth event, “The Button,” dropped this week in THE FLASH #21 and, unsurprisingly considering the titular hero, it hit the ground running...but maybe not where you’d expect.
