Even on their most routine days, the Green Lantern Corps don’t exactly have a job anyone could classify as easy, but lately things have been pretty complicated, even by their standards. Between rogue governments, dying universes, parasitic rings from alternate earths and renegade agents of Apokolips, the recent history of the Corps and its members can seem a little tricky to navigate.
If you were to pick up the next issue of HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS, no one could blame you for expecting it to star…well, Hal Jordan. He’s right there in the title, after all. However, as anyone who’s read last week’s issue #7 could tell you, Hal’s going through some changes right now that have him nowhere to be found as the series’ new storyline, “Bottled Light,” begins in issue #8.
With Rebirth now in full swing and so many exciting new titles to try, we can’t blame anyone for needing a reminder of what happened in the last issue. Or maybe you’re looking to add a new book to your list and need to get caught up on earlier chapters? Either way, we’re here to help. Every Tuesday, we’ll be recapping the prior issues of that week’s new Rebirth and Hanna-Barbera comics, as well as sharing our favorite moments. It’s a quick, easy way to ensure you’re up to speed and ready for New Comic Day.
If you’re anything like us, we know what you’re thinking. It’s a Monday. You’re tired from the weekend and facing a long week at work or school. Well, John Constantine is here to help. No, he’s not going to cast a spell to shift time so that the weekend arrives sooner (though he probably can). Rather, he’s the subject of one of our newest Rebirth playlists.
For the past three years, Robert Venditti has taken Hal Jordan through a war with the New Gods, a self-imposed expulsion from the Green Lantern Corps and a mindbending battle with his former self, Parallax. But he’s about to take Hal somewhere that’s new for the veteran writer—the pages of a brand new Green Lantern comic.
One Perfect Panel is a recurring feature that identifies and examines noteworthy comic book panels, presenting them for your appreciation and discussion. Some of these panels will be epic in scale, while others will be quiet character beats, but all will be masterful in composition and impact.
