SUPERMAN #709 provides an exhilarating new twist on the classic question of who’s faster: Superman or Flash? Who will outrun the other and what the heck is that thing on Flash’s head that’s making him speak Kryptonian and recite the planet’s history?
Written by J. Michael Straczynski and Chris Roberson, with artwork by Eddy Barrows & J.P. Mayer and a cover by John Cassaday, SUPERMAN #709 continues the Man of Steel’s “Grounded” storyline -- this time bringing Superman to the vast landscapes of Boulder, Colorado.

Keep reading, Superman fans.
I know I'm far from the only T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents fan here. I've been tipped off to a few of the guest artists who'll be contributing to upcoming issues, and they're just too cool not to share. (Just check out the Francis Manapul cover for issue five above!) I'll let you hear the news straight from T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents editor, Wil Moss:
Writer Jeff Lemire and artist Pier Gallo step into Smallville next Wednesday with the launch of SUPERBOY #1, which launches the hero into a new, ongoing series. And, wow, is that Rafael Albuquerque cover a beauty or what? Wait until you see Pier Gallo's interiors.
Writer G. Willow Wilson (AIR) and newcomer Leandro Oliveira provide a “Grounded” interlude in October’s SUPERMAN #704, detailing a visit Lois Lane makes to the town where she went to college in anticipation of Superman’s arrival. When she runs into an old boyfriend and sees the nice, normal family he has, Lois is can't help but examine the choices she made and wonder if they were the correct ones.
Not only does the issue feature another instant classic John Cassaday cover, but will also sport a variant by artist Gene Ha. You can see the Cassaday image below.
I’m on vacation, but still – what better way to head into the weekend than by posting some nice images to click through?
What’ve we got? Don Kramer’s cover to WONDER WOMAN #602, Kevin Maguire’s JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST #9, John Cassaday on DOC SAVAGE #6, Ryan Sook’s BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #5 and a lovely Kevin Nowlan BATMAN #703 piece.
Have a great weekend!
