Welcome back DC Collectibles fans! We are at week two of answering your 2015 NY Toy Fair questions. A lot of you asked about the New 52 Action Figure line and what will be happening going forward. Well, we can confirm that the New 52 line will end in mid-2015 after we release Harley Quinn, The Joker, John Stewart and Fan Poll winner, Poison Ivy.
When we announced The New 52 back in 2012, the focus was understandably on the comics. Fifty-two first issues is an impressive feat. But it didn’t take long for The New 52 to permeate into other areas of the business, like DC Collectibles. After all, we love reading and watching super heroes fight, but we’re not ashamed to admit that we still like making them fight and there’s no better way to do that than with a nice set of action figures. (You could do it with our statues as well, but we REALLY don’t recommend that. Seriously, don’t.
We’ve been talking about The New 52: Futures End a lot here lately, and for good reason. It’s an action heavy tale with serious implications for the entire DC Universe that’s utterly unlike anything else we’re publishing right now. We’re now four issues into the storyline, and each new chapter has only deepened the intrigue, offering up a mix of explosive sci-fi action, post-apocalyptic horror, far-reaching conspiracies, startling twists and revealing character moments.
With all of the action and explosive twists the writers of The New 52: Futures End have managed to squeeze into the comic’s first two issues, it’s almost surprising to realize that the book’s only on its second issue. (Second as far as numbering goes, at any rate. The Free Comic Book Day installment was a zero issue!) However, that’s precisely where we are. Today, THE NEW 52: FUTURES END #2 hits stores, and brings with it a marked change of tone for the series.
It's been almost two years to the day since the launch of DC Comics – The New 52, and what a crazy awesome time just this past year has been. We've experienced the return of an old foe—albeit with the world’s worst facelift. We've witnessed war with the hordes of Apokolips—on two different earths! We've seen godly families reunite, and then like all recently reunited families, proceed to squabble, fight and all-out brawl. Heck, we've even opened a gateway for evil alternate reality version of ourselves to invade our Earth. You know, like you do.
