Ten Moments that Mattered: Geoff Johns Says Goodbye to Green Lantern

As the holidays arrive and the year comes to a close, we thought we’d take a look back at 2013 and commemorate some of the moments that really stood out in the world of DC Entertainment in a two-week DCComics.com series we’re calling “Ten Moments that Mattered.” Some of these moments were happy. Tuesday Roundup: An Atlantean Farewell

It’s Thanksgiving week here in the States, and we can’t wait to carve into the turkey and cut off a slice of delicious pumpkin pie. Or two. Or maybe three. (Hey, Thanksgiving only comes once a year, okay?! Yeesh!) But before we do that, we’ll be dropping in to the local comic shop and bidding a fond farewell to Geoff Johns as he departs Atlantis in AQUAMAN #26, his final issue as series writer.

Journey Through Atlantis: A Look Back at Geoff Johns' Aquaman

What do you think of when you think of Aquaman? What words come to mind? If they’re anything close to “silly,” “inconsequential” or “B-level,” then you haven’t been reading Aquaman’s ongoing comic. At least not since Geoff Johns started writing it.

While Johns may not have the history with the character that he had with Green Lantern, his contribution to Aquaman is no less significant. Of course, to fully understand it, it helps to revisit what Johns has done with Arthur Curry since taking over as writer with Aquaman’s relaunch as part of The New 52.
