Who would’ve thought starting a new year with some serious Injustice would be a good thing?
It’s a brand new year, and while we hope it’s a great one for all of you, we KNOW it’s going to be a good year for the Dark Knight. Yes, exactly 75 years ago, Batman made his debut in the pages of 1939’s DETECTIVE COMICS #27.
It’s Tuesday, and as every good first grader knows, that starts with a T. And you know what else starts with a T, don’t you?
T-E-E-N T-I-T-A-N-S! Teen Titans, LET’S GO!!!
Yes, that’s right. The hit animated series from Cartoon Network is exploding onto the comic book page this week. And judging by the cover of the premiere issue, we mean that rather literally…
Justice arrives this week in a big way. A huge way. A way that will have you seeing, um, triple. This Wednesday will see three brand new Justice League comics arrive in stores, ensuring that for fans of high-stakes, large-scale sequential storytelling, the holidays have arrived a little early this year.
It’s Thanksgiving week here in the States, and we can’t wait to carve into the turkey and cut off a slice of delicious pumpkin pie. Or two. Or maybe three. (Hey, Thanksgiving only comes once a year, okay?! Yeesh!) But before we do that, we’ll be dropping in to the local comic shop and bidding a fond farewell to Geoff Johns as he departs Atlantis in AQUAMAN #26, his final issue as series writer.
Ah, Krypton… Maybe it was a nice place to visit, but if you’re a human, you probably wouldn’t want to live there. And you definitely don’t want it returning and destroying all things we hold dear. Unfortunately, that’s more or less what’s happening this month in the Superman family of comics.
Hey, did you know that November is Ridiculously Awesome New Comics Month? Okay, no, not in any official capacity.
Halloween is just two days away, and all of us are looking forward to costuming up and hitting the streets to keep the world safe—er, we mean to get candy with our kids or attend one of the nearby Halloween parties. Yes, we love Halloween right here at the DC Entertainment office, which should be fairly obvious from this week’s “DC All Access.” But what we’re not big on is the idea that we need to wait until Thursday night for treats. So it’s fortunate that there are plenty of treats to be found this Wednesday…at your local comic shop.
Welcome back to the Roundup! Yes, it’s been a crazy few weeks since the last time we spoke. Someone’s moved the entire moon and blocked out the sun! Super-villains are running rampant! There’s a war brewing between Arkham and Blackgate! The Justice League has disappeared!
Or, uh…maybe we’re getting comics and reality mixed up again. We’ve been known to do that on occasion.
Welcome to the other side of Villains Month. Yes, the villain-centric titles are behind us, but if you thought that meant things were going to get easier for our poor heroes, think again. For starters, the Crime Syndicate is still pretty much running the entire freakin’ planet, and with the Secret Society backing them and the Justice League nowhere to be seen, it’s clear that Ultraman, Superwoman, Owlman and the rest are here to stay.
