Jason's Picks: Mysteries and Multiverses

We have now moved past the giant event that is San Diego Comic-Con, but that doesn’t mean that the comic goodness of the year is done. An emerald archer, a last son and some super friends are here with my choices for the best DC graphic novels that you should pick up in August.

Freedom Fighters: The Ray - Comic-Con 2017 Sneak Peek

Catching the Comic-Con crowd by surprise, producers of FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY unveiled the first look at footage from CW Seed’s newest, animated DC Super Hero series, the first Super Hero show to feature a gay character in a title role. The reel was full of familiar faces, including evil alternate versions of Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl, as they battled title character Ray “The Ray” Terrill and his team of heroes.

SDCC: THE “DARK KNIGHTS” RISE!

After teasing comic book fans with ominous shadow images of six evil Batmen from the Dark Multiverse several weeks ago, their final, terrifying images were revealed earlier this morning Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Each of these malevolent characters – The Red Death, The Murder Machine, The Dawnbreaker, The Drowned, the Merciless and The Devastator – all represent corrupted versions of Batman set upon the DC universe to help conquer it once and for all, as part of the DARK NIGHTS: METAL event beginning this August.

The Flash: Abra Abra Kadabra

Holy magic wielders, Batman! On this week’s episode of The Flash—aptly titled “Abra Kadabra”the eponymous character made his small screen debut in a big bad fashion. He appeared sporting some of the best hair that has been seen on a #DCTV show to date in order to flaunt his knowledge of future events with Barry and Iris…including the true identity of Savitar himself (a subject I know every reader here has their own theory on!).

The Flash: Will the Real Flash Please Stand Up?

“Monster” introduced viewers to the third version of Harrison Wells in three seasons—H.R.! Okay, technically, we met him in “New Rogues” —last week’s episode—but this was the first full episode where we had a chance to get a real sense of what H.R. Wells is all about. He’s the goofy idea man standing in stark contrast to his Earth-2 counterpart, Harry. So far it seems like Earth-19 (where H.R. hails from), is the most fun Earth in the CW Multiverse!

The #DCTV Secrets of THE FLASH: Episode 2.23 "The Race of His Life"

This season the singularity has scattered secrets all over Central City. But we know where they are. We're here to tease you with all the #DCTV Secrets hiding in each episode. If you really want to know some of the answers to these questions, check out the spoiler section... in a flash.

The Flash of Two Worlds: Building Earth-2

Adapting an established comic book character for the small screen is challenging enough, so what’s it like adapting an entire world of them? Difficult, but if tonight’s new episode of The Flash is any indication, it’s also a crazy amount of fun.
