Yesterday, we revealed the three winners of our #Clarkkenting Photo Contest. However, shortly after we launched the contest, it became clear that #clarkkenting had transcended a simple Twitter contest and become an Internet trend. People were getting their kids to do it. Getting their dogs to do it. Getting their iguanas to do it!
We’re heading into Man of Steel’s third week of release, and by now, it’s a pretty fair bet that if you’re a Superman or a DC Comics fan, you’ve probably already seen it. And if you’re a big fan, you’re probably going to see it again. In fact, the only real question for most of us is exactly how many times we’ll be seeing it before it leaves theaters.
What's "Clark Kenting"? It's the act of taking your glasses off in the most dramatic way possible, and for the next few days, it can win you a copy of the Man of Steel Soundtrack Deluxe Edition.
After over a year of discussion, speculation and edge-of-your-seat anticipation, Man of Steel is finally in theaters. For Superman fans, this is a pretty big deal. So you might want to dress for the occasion…
Fortunately, the fine folks at Old Navy are making this easy with their cool collection of Superman tees. After 75 years of heroics, Superman fans are as diverse as they come, but no matter your taste, style or size, they have a shirt that’ll be the perfect fit for you. Even better, these super tees start at just $8.
It’s been a great weekend for Superman, and an even better one for Superman fans, who came out en masse to catch their favorite hero’s latest cinematic foray, Man of Steel. By now, it’s safe to say that Henry Cavill’s debut in the cape is a big success, and that’s something we can all celebrate—those of us who work here at DC Comics and our amazing fans.
If we know anything from hanging out with the DC Collectibles crew, it’s that collectors like to show off their collections. So a couple of weeks ago, we asked you to send us photos of your Superman collections using the hashtag #SuperStuff. And as always, you didn’t disappoint. Both with the photos and with the collections. I mean, seriously, where did you find some of this stuff? Is that actually a Superman Snuggie? (Yes. Yes, it is. And it is awesome.)
When working in a business setting—even when that business entails publishing comic books featuring the World’s Greatest Super Heroes—one must usually hold to certain level of professionalism. We try not to geek out too much (we said try) even though sometimes we simply can’t help ourselves. That all said:
A super hero known for his strength and power of flight deserves a strong, soaring soundtrack, and if you’ve heard the snippets of Hans Zimmer’s score for Man of Steel in the recent trailers, you know that he’s delivered a suite of music that has every chance of proving to be as iconic as the Man of Steel himself.
Today marks the release of the Man of Steel soundtrack, which is available in two different forms—a standard two-disc version and a deluxe, limited edition which features six additional songs as well as an embossed steel case.
Superman has been the world’s most beloved and recognized super hero for 75 years, and with a major new movie on the horizon and numerous comic book titles on the shelves, that’s not likely to change anytime soon.
But why is he so beloved? What is it about the Man of Steel that makes him so popular with people over generations? And why do so many writers and artists in comics—no matter how busy they may otherwise be—find the chance to tell a Superman tale an offer that’s too good to pass up?
This June, you won't need to look up in the sky to spot Superman. All you'll need to do is visit the DC Comics website.
