IGN reviews SWEET TOOTH #2
October 8, 2009
If there was anything wrong with Jeff Lemire's first issue of Sweet Tooth, it was that it didn't necessarily give a great indication of where the series was going. When you think of the first part of Mike Carey's The Unwritten, it was clear exactly what sort of book you'd invested in by the end of that issue. And while Sweet Tooth #1 set the stage, raised questions and defined its lead character well, for the most part I didn't have a clear idea what was going to be happening on a month to month basis. Issue #2 clears that all up, gives the title a clear direction, another solid main cast member, and - here's the important part - manages to be an improvement over the bargain-priced first issue.
When last issue ended, hybrid child Gus had just met (presumably) normal human Jepperd, who saved him from bounty hunters. This issue details what Jepperd plans to do with Gus, involving a road trip to a place called the Preserve, a safe haven for hybrids like him.
