Let's not beat around the bush: Bill Willingham's "Fables" is the finest comic book series out today, and instantly became an all-time favorite of mine. It's also one of those titles I can recommend to adults who say they don't like comics, because it's bound to win them over.

If you're among that group, "Fables: The Deluxe Editon — Book One" is an excellent starting point, collecting the initial 10 issues in hardback for the first time.
