So, let’s see, this week DC fans were talking about Dark Knight Rises, Masters of the Universe, the Nook, Batman and Robin…and an ad campaign? Well, yes, and considering the ad campaign is about San Diego Comic-Con, it’s perfectly understandable. Everyone’s excited about Comic-Con, even us, which is why we decided to count down the days leading up to the big show here on the site. We began by debuting our new SDCC print advertisements, but that’s just the start. Look for more fun SDCC-related stuff in the days ahead, as well as an unprecedented level of coverage over Comic-Con weekend. But that’s all in the future. Let’s look at what’s happening right now.

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website…

The Dark Knight Rises will be hitting big screens like a Batarang on July 20th, but if you’re a Batman fan, you’ll want to add July 19th to your calendar as well. Why? Because we’re giving away a free Batman comic that day!

Speaking of the Caped Crusader, if you haven’t been reading Peter J. Tomasi’s dramatic take on Bruce Wayne’s often complex relationship with his son (both in and out of the cowl), there’s never been a better time to start. BATMAN AND ROBIN VOL. 1: BORN TO KILL hits shops next week. To hold us all over, we’ve been spotlighting some of the collection’s bonus material. Check out Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 aaaaand Day 5!

By the way, everyone knows that we’re publishing a new digital first Masters of the Universe comic, right? And that the first chapter was written by Geoff Johns with art by Howard Porter and John Livesay, right? Just checking.

Election Day may still be a few months away, but it’s time to vote now! No, we’re not talking politics. DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and universally acclaimed artist Jim Lee has been nominated for Spike TV’s All Access Game Changer Award, and if he’s going to win, he needs your votes.

Of course, if we’re going to discuss game changers, what about our announcement that our graphic novels will now be available on the Nook?

As we neared the end of the week, we gave you 5.2 Reasons Why We Love the First Round of Before Watchmen, as well as a glimpse of Becky Cloonan’s wicked guest art for BATMAN #12. And our very own Catwoman made the cover of Comics Heroes magazine in the UK!

Finally, we officially launched our “Countdown to Comic-Con” by debuting our new Meet the Makers print ads. If you missed them, check out our ads featuring Scott Snyder, Geoff Johns and Amanda Conner. And we’re not done highlighting DC creators and Comic-Con. Stay tuned next week as some of our amazing writers and artists share their thoughts on SDCC.

There we go talking about the future again. What can we say? It’s been a fun week, but there’s great stuff ahead, and we’ll see you again in seven to talk about it!
