Is it possible to be both giddy and absolutely terrified at the same time? Well, if the start of this week has taught us anything, it would have to be that the answer to that question is yes. There’s no other way to describe how we’re feeling about the start of “Death of the Family” this week. The Joker returns to Gotham and makes his DC COMICS – THE NEW 52 debut in what’s looking to be one of the most terrifying storylines to hit the pages of Batman in ages. And talk about impact! When a villain like the Joker returns, he doesn’t just affect one hero. Not with his history. He’s “killed” Jason Todd, shot and nearly crippled Barbara Gordon, romanced (in the loosest term possible) Harley Quinn, and all of that was before he had one of the most disturbing facelifts in history in the pages of Detective Comics.

You also don’t want to miss BATGIRL #13, which serves as a prelude to “Death of the Family,” the continuation of “Rise of the Third Army” in GREEN LANTERN CORPS #13, TEAM 7#1 and THE PHANTOM STRANGER #1, and the second issue of BEFORE WATCHMEN: DR. MANHATTAN. That’s right, it’s only the second issue, which means if you haven’t been reading this beautiful Before Watchmen book, you don’t have much to get caught up on before Wednesday.
