DC Entertainment leads all other publishers with its volume of digital first comics, and the digital team reached another major milestone with today’s release of BATMAN: ARKHAM UNHINGED #50.  That means fifty weekly chapters have been released since the digital book first launched last year timed to the release of the bestselling video game BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY.

“Nothing points to the success of our digital first comics more than today’s BATMAN: ARKHAM UNHINGED milestone,” stated Hank Kanalz, senior vice president of digital, DC Entertainment. “When we began to offer digital first books we weren’t really sure what the response from readers would be and the results have by far exceeded our expectations. Huge congratulations to the ARKHAM team.”

BATMAN: ARKHAM UNHINGED #50 brings us to the approximate halfway point of the series’ longest story arc, “Welcome to the Slough of Despond,” written by Karen Traviss (Gears of War). Set between the Arkham Asylum and Arkham City video games, Batman finds himself in a very unusual situation. With most of Gotham’s master criminals already rounded up for imprisonment in the soon-to-be-open Arkham City, everyday street crime is running rampant and a mysterious new killer with a messianic message for Gotham is leaving few clues for the Dark Knight. Federico Dallochio takes over the art for the first of three chapters.
