DC Entertainment, home to the iconic DC Comics Super Heroes, and Capstone are teaming up to sponsor a Super Hero inspired writing contest for fans in grades 3-6. The nationwide contest “Be a Super Hero. Read!” encourages children to write about a real hero in their lives. Children enter the contest by describing the human powers, such as courage, generosity, or imagination, which make their selected hero special.

The first-place winner will receive a VIP trip for four to tour Warner Bros. Animation Studios and DC Entertainment Offices, the home of SUPERMAN™ and BATMAN™, and other unique prizes. The hero described in the winning entry will receive $2,500 to donate to the charity of his or her choice.

Five winners will also be selected from the top entries to receive a set of the new SUPERMAN™ book series, the Man of Steel chapter books.

“Our teams are excited to collaborate with DC Entertainment for this contest. We’re thrilled to give children an opportunity to appreciate the ‘super powers’ of their real-life heroes and to expand their literacy skills while doing it. Kids will have a chance to vote on their favorite hero and their votes will ultimately decide the winner of our contest and recipient of the amazing prize package,” said Ashley Andersen Zantop, Capstone Group Publisher and General Manager. “Our contest also launches a year-long campaign to empower kids to let reading help make them every day super heroes.”

For complete contest rules and to enter, visit www.CapstoneSuperHero.com. The contest runs from March 1 – April 15, 2013. Starting on May 15, kids from across the country will have the opportunity to vote online for the grand prize winner. The winner will be announced at the Book Expo America conference on May 30.

Capstone also continues to collaborate with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, for the popular DC Super Heroes chapter book series featuring DC Comics’ iconic characters BATMAN™, SUPERMAN™, WONDER WOMAN™, GREEN LANTERN™ and THE FLASH™ in new crime-fighting adventures, as well as the exciting DC Super-Pets chapter books illustrated by Eisner award winner Art Baltazar, introducing readers to the pets of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes.

Due to the great collaborations, Capstone and DC Entertainment have also recently partnered together to publish reinforced library hard covers and paper-over-board editions of the DC Comics comic book list.
