It seems to be the eternal question among DC Comics fans. Do you prefer Batman or Superman?
Well, personally, we’re equal fans of both, but regardless of where you fall in this ongoing debate, you’re in for a great week. This Wednesday marks the debut of Superman Unchained, the highly anticipated new comic book series from the creative dream team of Scott Snyder and Jim Lee. Last week, we gave you a first look at the issue’s gorgeous gatefold poster and went behind the scenes with Lee as he gave us a sneak peek at the first issue. If you couldn’t tell, this is a comic that blows away the boundaries of sequential storytelling by two creators who know how to do it (remember Snyder’s rotating issue of Batman?). Whether you’re a fan of the Man of Steel, or just a fan of blockbuster-sized action, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Speaking of Snyder, he’s pulling double-duty this week since Wednesday also marks the release of BATMAN #21, the first issue of the equally anticipated “Zero Year” storyline. This promises to redefine the origin of the Dark Knight for DC COMICS – THE NEW 52, while staying true to all the things that have made Batman such a beloved character since his inception. To whet your appetite for this look at Batman’s most formative year, we offered up a variety of preview features for issue #21. You can find links to all of them below.
Of course, if there’s anyone out there who doesn’t care for Batman OR Superman (and if there is, you do know where you are, right?), we have you covered as well.
