It’s one of the most famous, most celebrated and most important friendships in all of comics. Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne. Superman and Batman. The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight. But how did these two very different super heroes become such good friends? We’ve seen this explored in the past, but not in DC COMICS – THE NEW 52. Not until now, that is.

This week sees the release of BATMAN/SUPERMAN #1, a new ongoing title focusing on the burgeoning friendship between Batman and Superman in the early days of The New 52 as they confront adversaries they could only take down together. The series is written by Greg Pak, who will also soon be taking over the writing duties on Action Comics, and illustrated in lush detail by Jae Lee. And we do mean lush detail…

Of course, that’s just one release in a week of releases that is sure to go down in comic book lore. Why? Because this week we’re being treated to not one. Not two. But three new Justice League comics: JUSTICE LEAGUE #21 (which features the full-length conclusion of the comic’s dramatic SHAZAM! backup storyline), JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #5 and JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #21. And as if that’s not enough, Green Lantern fans can look forward to Charles Soule and Alessandro Vitti’s creative team debut on Red Lanterns as well as the humorous, hubristic first issue of Larfleeze! Yes, everyone’s favorite Orange Lantern (not that you have much choice there) now has his own comic, and while we doubt he’d be too pleased at having to share a longbox, we think he’ll fit quite nicely in your collection. Which hopefully isn’t anywhere near as big as his collection.
