There are a lot of reasons to be excited for the DC Comics and Vertigo titles hitting shelves this October.

In case you missed it, here’s a roundup of some of the news and announcements that have been making headlines over the past few weeks:

• In a print feature about Vertigo Comics, THE NEW YORK TIMES announced the publication date for THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE, the return of AMERICAN VAMPIRE, and the new ongoing series, HINTER KIND, THE DISCIPLINE, and DEAD BOY DETECTIVES. The Vertigo Comics website then followed up this coverage by announcing the new series SUICIDERS and COFFIN HILL, and the upcoming anthology one-shot, THE WITCHING HOUR.

• THE NEW YORK POST announced the new 4-issue miniseries, DAMIAN: SON OF BATMAN. Their coverage included a chat with writer/artist Andy Kubert and the debut of the cover to issue #1.

• USA TODAY announced that kicking off with issue #25, writer Greg Pak and artist Aaron Kuder will be the creative team helming ACTION COMICS. Their coverage included an exclusive sneak peek at Kuder’s interior art for the Villains Month one-shot, SUPERMAN #23.4: PARASITE.

• THE LOS ANGELES TIMES' HERO COMPLEX announced that AMERICAN VAMPIRE artist Rafael Albuquerque will be joining the creative team of ANIMAL MAN beginning with issue #24. Their coverage featured exclusive commentary from series writer Jeff Lemire.

• MTV GEEK exclusively announced that INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US writer Tom Taylor will be taking over writing duties for EARTH 2 beginning with issue #17. They also announced that starting with issue #7, writer Dan Abnett and artist Rafael Kayanan will be taking over as the creative team for HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE.

• MTV GEEK also debuted the covers for all the FOREVER EVIL tie-in mini-series and spoke to each of these titles’ writers. • IGN exclusively announced the new ongoing series SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN from writer Charles Soule and artist Tony Daniel. Their coverage also included a promo image for the series by Daniel.

• COMIC BOOK RESOURCES exclusively announced the new ongoing series, JUSTICE LEAGUE 3000, from the reunited fan-favorite creative team of co-writers J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen with artist Kevin Maguire.

• COMIC BOOK RESOURCES also exclusively announced the DC COMICS NEW 52 VILLAINS OMNIBUS, a special oversized collection hitting stores just in time for the holiday season!

• The DC Comics website announced the new Green Lantern crossover, “Lights Out,” as well as new Annual issues for ACTION COMICS, AQUAMAN, NIGHTWING, SWAMP THING, and TEEN TITANS. The GREEN LANTERN ANNUAL #2 was previously announced on COMIC VINE.
