Batman and Superman are known for large-scale adventure, but those adventures are still often limited to what can fit in a single 20-page comic book. However, once a year, we give the talent behind Batman, Superman and many of our other popular super heroes a chance to dream big and come up with an extra-sized story that takes our characters to places you might not see in their ongoing monthly title. Sometimes you’ll see them tangling with a favorite villain, or exploring a thread from their currently storyline. Other times the story will be completely standalone. Either way, you know you’re in for a super-sized treat. (One that won’t affect your waistline or cholesterol!)

We call these yearly issues Annuals, and this week you can look forward to some of our biggest. Batman, Superman, Detective Comics, Animal Man and the Flash! Batman’s ties in with Zero Year. The Flash’s guest stars Green Lantern. Superman’s brings back Brainiac. Animal Man’s offers a poignant farewell to Cliff… as well as a freaky Spider Queen. It IS Animal Man, after all…

Of course, it’s not all Annuals this week. Not in the least. This week also sees the release of BATMAN, INCORPORATED #13, the final issue of Grant Morrison’s spectacular Bat-run. This issue is the culmination of seven years of acclaim and unforgettable storylines that included the introduction and tragic demise of Damian Wayne. You’re not going to want to miss it. You’re also not going to want to miss our second issue of Trinity of Sin: Pandora, which ties directly in to “Trinity War,” or the first issues of our two latest Vertigo titles: Collider and Tom Strong and the Planet of Peril.
