What’s New In The New 52: Shun The Untouchable

By Bob Harras Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Welcome to What's New in The New 52 – where you, the fans, get a sneak peek at the stuff that crosses our desks. This little feature is a way to keep you all in the loop about what's new, different and exciting in The New 52 – whether it's a character design, cover, splash page or panel.

Readers of KATANA know that Shun the Untouchable’s tattoos reveal the history (and future!) of The Outsiders. Since the launch of the series, Katana has been paying Shun to learn about this elusive group. And as one might imagine, Shun’s backstory is as rich as it is complex.

In next week’s issue #7, we’ll learn that Shun has scars all over her face that were inflicted onto her by Coil. After all, it only makes sense that someone who has so much power over The Outsiders would become their natural enemy. But did Coil attack Shun to prevent the fate inked in her tattoos from coming true? Or was it to send Katana a message? As Shun hides for her life, look for more of her origin to be explored in KATANA #9.

In the gallery above, take a look at some of Alex Sanchez’s depictions of Shun the Untouchable from KATANA #7, and don’t forget to pick up your copy of the issue when it hits stands next week!
