Yesterday, we told you a little bit about Shun the Untouchable, a character in KATANA who you can expect to see a lot more of in the coming months.

As you may remember that in KATANA #4, Shun’s foot was cut off by Mona Shard. It was Mona’s belief that by removing Shuns’ foot, she would also be preventing the stories tattooed on her from coming true. Clearly, this is not a ghost-girl you’d want to babysit.

Having died while she was a child, Mona’s appearance gives off a sense of youth. However, she’s really been dead for hundreds of years and has just been using her looks to manipulate people into getting her ways. But when Katana’s last assignment while infiltrating the sword clan is to murder Mona, her moral compass will be tested in an unprecedented way – can she really kill someone who looks like a child?

Luckily for Katana, Mona can’t be killed unless she’s riding a body. So in order to take her down, it’ll be up to the former Bird of Prey to trap Mona in someone’s body before she can complete her initiation into the sword clan. And once there, the next phase in her plan (a.k.a take them down!) can begin.

Above, take a look at the cover for KATANA #9 by Fabrizio Fiorentino, which features Mona Shard and Katana in a death grip.

See you tomorrow!
