Welcome to What's New in The New 52 – where you, the fans, get a sneak peek at the stuff that crosses our desks. This little feature is a way to keep you all in the loop about what's new, different and exciting in The New 52 – whether it's a character design, cover, splash page or panel.

Last month, I showed you a sneak peek of new TRINITY OF SIN: PANDORA artist Francis Portela’s stunning work on the series. Today, I’ll be spotlighting some more of Portela’s art by giving you a look at the inside of TRINITY OF SIN: PANDORA #5.

At the end of “Trinity War,” The Outsider revealed all of these details about Pandora’s Box and its origin that completely upended everything Pandora thought she knew. Then at the end of issue #4, Pandora tracked down The Outsider to demand more answers from him since he clearly knows way more about the Box, its origin, and its powers than she does.

As issue #5 opens, Pandora has The Outsider at gunpoint at the Crime Syndicate’s headquarters. At any given second, any member of the Crime Syndicate could enter the room and all hope would be lost for Pandora. But that won’t stop this elusive character from trying to find out exactly how to reopen her Box to send the Crime Syndicate back to Earth 3! This issue also sets the stage directly for FOREVER EVIL: BLIGHT, the crossover event that I announced in this same column a few weeks ago.

“These are characters that understand the concept of evil better than most of the superheroes in the DC Universe,” writer Ray Fawkes recently said of this upcoming crossover to COMIC BOOK RESOURCES. “If nothing else, they've seen Hell itself, and now they're going to be dealing with something that they don't even fully get how it exists. This is a thing that really does embody every evil in the universe. From the great genocidal evils to the tiniest, pettiest lies and misdealings. Not only are they going to have to fight this thing, but some of them, like John Constantine, are going to have to face the fact that, to a certain degree, some of the things that they do can definitely be categorized as evil and are feeding this thing.”

In the gallery above, take a first look at TRINITY OF SIN: PANDORA #5, and don’t forget to pick up the issue when it arrives in stores on November 20.

See you next time!
