The very first ‘modern’ computer  was unveiled on February 15, 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania, having cost almost half a million dollars!  You could buy almost 30 houses for that much back then.   This computer was over 100 feet long and got so hot, it had to be built with a special air conditioner so the circuits wouldn’t melt.

 

That was pretty high tech back in 1946… of course your parents’ cell phones probably have more computing power than the very first computer did then!
