This soaring image appears near the very end of SUPERMAN: THE MEN OF TOMORROW, the recently released hardcover collecting Geoff Johns, John Romita, Jr. and Klaus Janson’s Man of Steel saga. In the final chapter, Superman spends a day as a normal human after his new solar flare ability leaves him temporarily powerless. The eventful day ends quietly with Kal-El having a bite and a soda on top of the Daily Planet with his buddy, Jimmy Olsen, as the two discuss what it feels like to be the Man of Steel. It’s an image that reminds us why Superman maintains his secret identity and his human friendships—they keep him grounded. Even when he’s hundreds of feet off the ground.
