Shedding Some Light on Doctor Light

The identity of Doctor Light certainly came as a surprise to the Flash but also may have been a surprise to comic book fans as well. The villain Arthur Light first appeared in Justice League of America #12 and became a reoccurring antagonist to not only the JLA but the Teen Titans as well. The second Doctor Light, Kimiyo Hoshi, walked a much different path and served as a member of the Justice League, Doom Patrol and more, fighting for the forces of good.

Welcome to Atlantis

The legend of the underwater city of Atlantis traces far back into mythology but in the world of DC Comics, the lost city serves as home to a whole other race of beings known as Atlanteans. Jay Garrick said of the city, "One of my best friends is from there," and while a number of heroes and villains hail from the city, most notably the King of the Seas Aquaman calls it his home.

One Soul, Many Lives

The barista Cisco meets at Jitters introduces herself as Kendra Saunders and comic book fans may have squealed a little bit at that revelation. Kendra first appeared in JSA Secret Files #1 and became the hero known as Hawkgirl after discovering the truth about her past. Gifted special powers and abilities through the mysterious Nth Metal, Kendra is actually one of the many reincarnations of an Egyptian Princess whose past is tied directly to that of Hawkman.

Feeling Those Good Vibrations

Ever since Cisco Ramon showed up in the first episode of Flash, comic book fans have been waiting for this moment. Throughout the series, Cisco made subtle jokes, hints, and nods to what might become his superpowered destiny and last season saw the revelation about his hidden powers. With this episode, Cisco finally adopts his comic book counterpart's superhero name: Vibe!

See you next week!
