DC Entertainment dishes on the most exciting and essential stories from DC Comics, Vertigo, and MAD and more!

DC Entertainment’s first panel (DC All Access) of ECCC 2016 has just concluded, and the packed house were treated to some behind the scenes looks at the most exciting and essential stories of the DC Entertainment Universe! Moderator and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Dan DiDio spoke with an array of creators including Marguerite Bennett (DC Comics Bombshells), Amy Chu (Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death), Chad Hardin (Harley Quinn), Klaus Janson (DKIII: The Master Race), Steve Orlando (Midnighter, Supergirl: Rebirth), Robert Venditti (Green Lantern) and Emanuela Lupacchino (Supergirl: Rebirth) for an in-depth look at some of the best stories that make DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD! For both veterans and new fans, these talented individuals presented a 101 guide to navigating the 'verse.

A few budding artists were invited on stage to sketch during the panel including DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee! The team discussed the opportunities for new talent with DC's new talent development program. After that, Rob Venditti talked about what's to come for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps this June, reassuring the audience that all their favorite characters will be in the new series! Steve Orlando got a huge cheer as he introduced Supergirl: Rebirth, and artist Emanuela Lupacchino discussed working with Steve on this project, as well as working on Superwoman!

Writer Marguerite Bennett was on hand to discuss her run on DC Bombshells and creating a world where, in her words, "when you have enough women, the world feels real", and Emanuela teased that we may be seeing some of her designs for the Bombshells on future statues! Amy Chu shocked the audience when she revealed she use to write technical documents after going to MIT and Harvard! But being the smart girl she is she changed paths and started writing comics like the notorious Poison Ivy! Chad Hardin talked about his work on Harley Quinn and some tricky sketches, while Klaus Janson reminisced about 30 years on the Dark Knight series.

And the audience heard all about a new Kamandi challenge-- 12 art teams and 12 writers pairing up to do a year-long project within the Kamandi map created by Jack Kirby! Details to come soon!

The panel concluded with a surprise guest and the surprise announcement of DC’s Young Animal! This new mature reader pop-up imprint for DC Comics will be curated by The Umbrella Academy writer and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. The imprint will debut four new titles starting this fall. Check here for all the info!
