Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Didn’t we just write about Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps here in This Just Happened?

Why, yes, we did. But we’re writing about it again because the series is just that awesome, and this week’s new issue was nothing short of breathtaking.

Written as always by Robert Venditti and drawn by no less than Ethan Van Sciver, HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS #8 finds Hal missing in action and possibly dead while the rest of the Green Lantern Corps must figure out what to make of Soranik Natu now wearing the yellow of the Sinestro Corps. As she pleads her case—making it clear that the renegade Yellow Lanterns she’s with were never onboard with Sinestro’s plan of controlling the universe through fear—the Lanterns receive a message that Tomar-Tu’s home planet of Xudar is under attack from a massive presence…

Starro!

Aided by Soranik and her renegade Yellow Lanterns, John Stewart and the surviving Green Lanterns manage to defeat Starro surprisingly easily…which naturally breeds suspicion. What’s going on? As Soranik and the Sinestro Corps work to remove the remaining Starro spores from any civilians they’ve managed to attach themselves to, John, Kilowog and Tomar-Tu discover something odd…

But what is it? It appears the Green Lantern Corps have landed in a trap set by someone who knows a thing or two about cosmic menace.

Brainiac?!? But what’s with his retro appearance? And how the heck are the Green Lanterns going to get themselves free? If you find yourself asking those questions, you’ll definitely want to grab the second part of “Bottled Light” when it hits stores on November 23rd!
