Kara Zor-El is back in action next month as Supergirl returns for its fourth season. However, things will be looking a bit different around National City when it does. Trusted friend and ally Winn Schott has traveled to the future with Mon-El and the Legion of Super-Heroes, leaving Kara without one of her most dependable teammates. But never fear, Supergirl fans, as new allies are emerging to fill the void, like Jesse Rath’s Brainiac-5 (who stayed behind when Winn left) and—making her debut this season—Nicole Maines’ Nia Nal, who will eventually become the telepathic hero known as Dreamer. Maines’ role is unique for a far more remarkable reason, however. She’ll also be TV’s very first transgender superhero.

However, it’s not all rosy for Supergirl in these photos. We also get our first glimpse of Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves and Robert Baker as Otis. Yes, THAT Otis—Lex Luthor’s bumbling sidekick who was famously introduced and embodied by actor Ned Beatty in the first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies. Of course, this version of Otis seems far less bumbling, and far MORE menacing. Check him out and let us know what you think!

Supergirl's moving to a new night! Look for the return of the popular #DCTV series on Sunday, October 14th on The CW.
