There’s a reason they’re the most beloved couple in comics.

Superman fans got the news earlier this fall that Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel will be returning to the Arrowverse as a part of the “Elseworlds” crossover event…and that this time he’ll be joined by actress Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane. Hoechlin and Tulloch have since shared photos from the set (including an intriguing one of Hoechlin wearing Superman’s black suit), but today, The CW gave us our best look yet at the iconic comic book couple.

Hoechlin and Tulloch appear to be standing in Superman’s famous Fortress of Solitude in a brightly colored photo that’s a tribute to 1978’s Superman. The beloved Richard Donner film, which starred Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with a 4K Ultra HD release and a limited return to theaters. As for “Elseworlds,” the three-night crossover events kicks off on Sunday, December 9 at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CST) on The CW, before continuing December 10 and 11 at the same time.
