First Look: Aquaman's Strange New Life

By Tim Beedle Monday, December 17th, 2018

Atlantis is nowhere to be seen as its one-time king adjusts to life without memory in this preview of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Robson Rocha’s first issue of AQUAMAN.

With his movie in theaters this Friday, Aquaman’s comic series is getting a fresh start care of new writer Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Pretty Deadly) and artist Robson Rocha (TEEN TITANS, SUPERGIRL). Though after reading our exclusive first look at AQUAMAN #43, you have to wonder if the series should even be called “Aquaman” at all. The hero has no memory of his former life, or even his name, leading to much debate over what he should be called. Much of this is at the hands of the mysterious Caille, the young woman who discovered Arthur washed up on the shores of their small, isolated island.

It’s a shockingly different reality for the former King of Atlantis and current Justice Leaguer, but it’s not an unpleasant one, which begs the immediate question…why would Arthur ever want to leave it? Aquaman #43 is about as great a jumping on point for the series as these things get—it’s an entirely new chapter of Aquaman’s life. So check out our preview and then be sure to grab a copy of DeConnick and Robson’s Aquaman debut when it lands in stores this week.
