Supergirl: First Look at Dreamer

Supergirl: First Look at Dreamer

By Tim Beedle Friday, January 18th, 2019

There’s no need for psychic visions to see Nia Nal’s future on Supergirl.

Nicole Maines joined the cast of the CW series this season as Nia, the vision-plagued hero with a link to a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and she’s quickly become one of our favorite characters. (Though we don’t recommend claiming to have “that sleep thing” if you’re ever caught napping at work. It didn’t work ANYWHERE near as well for us as it did for her.)

Now, we know that Nia will eventually become a full-on superhero known as Dreamer, which will make Maines the very first performer to play a trans superhero on television. However, we had no idea what her costume would look like. Until now, that is…

It’s even better than we dreamed!

Okay, okay, sorry… Couldn’t help ourselves. But she does looks amazing. If you’re curious to learn more about Nia, we’ll finally be learning her backstory in the January 27th episode of Supergirl, “Blood Memory,” in which Kara joins Nia on a trip to her hometown that includes meeting Nia’s mother (guest star Kate Burton). We’re told we’ll get a glimpse of the costume in that episode—perhaps in one of Nia’s dreams?—but won’t see her fully suited up until the February 17th episode, which is called “Menagerie.”

For now, though, what do you think? You ready for Dreamer to join the super-crew? And are you as excited as we are that Supergirl’s back this weekend?
