For DC Comics fans, Sunday was a big day for small screen news as The CW made some exciting announcements at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. But if you were distracted by football and the Golden Globes and missed all the news, never fear. We’re here to bring you up to speed. Here are last weekend’s three big “gets.”

Arrow
and The Flash Get New Seasons

First, fans of The Flash and Arrow can look forward to far more action packed trips to Starling and Central Cities as both shows received next season pickups. This is pretty early in the year for a renewal order, which goes to show how much confidence The CW has in the two heroes. Considering The Flash’s amazing first season, which looks to feature both the Reverse-Flash and the Rogues in the months ahead, as well as the still unbelievable cliffhanger that ended Arrow’s mid-season finale, the shows are creatively hitting all the right notes. But it’s hard to imagine that this sort of network confidence would exist without the ratings to back it up, and for that we have you, the viewers and fans, to thank. So give yourself a pat on the back. You’re awesome!

iZombie Gets a Premiere Date and Trailer

As our more avid fans and followers know, DC Entertainment actually had four pilots picked up last fall. However, the fourth show, an adaptation of the Vertigo comic iZombie by Veronica Mars executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero, has yet to premiere. We knew it was coming to The CW sometime midseason, but we now finally have a premiere date and time: March 17, 2015 at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CST). The show will air Tuesday nights after The Flash, creating a two-hour block of #DCTV!

This is exciting news on its own, but The CW also debuted the first trailer for the show, which you can and should watch, if you haven’t seen it yet. And maybe watch it again, if you have. You know you want to!

We’ll be discussing iZombie a lot more going forward, but if you’d like to check out the Chris Roberson and Mike Allred comic on which it’s based, the entire run is available digitally. For more on the upcoming show, check out THR’s great presentation recap.

Vixen Gets Animated

In what was probably the most surprising (and arguably coolest) bit of news coming out of the weekend, animal-fueled super heroine Vixen is getting an animated digital series which will air on The CW’s online platform, CW Seed.

But wait, it gets better. The show will be overseen by Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, and as the image above shows, will be set in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash. You can learn a bit more about Vixen in this recent CBR interview with Guggenheim, and of course, remember to check DCComics.com regularly for all the latest #DCTV news.
