Since launching last September, DC’s Young Animal has taken readers on a journey through the imaginative, wonderful and strange. It’s sank its teeth into the hearts and minds of fans and refused to let go, drawing them to the cutting edge of art and writing and insisting they pay attention. It’s driven us all a little mad, served as a reminder that there’s nothing wrong with being negative (so long as you put it to heroic use), made cybernetic eyes the latest must-have gadget and proven that it’s okay to wear white past Labor Day if you’re a Gotham City vigilante. But most of all, DC’s Young Animal has gotten people talking.
Therefore, we felt made sense to surrender the Young Animal spotlight on occasion to a few of these fans, and let them share their myriad of thoughts on the Gerard Way-driven imprint. We wanted to give them a chance to unpack and discuss the most recent issues of DOOM PATROL, MOTHER PANIC, CAVE CARSON HAS A CYBERNETIC EYE and SHADE, THE CHANGING GIRL, and discuss the books with their fellow fans. And of course, since we’re in the business of entertaining, we asked them to do it on camera.
The Young Animal Book Club is a brand new YouTube series featuring four insightful comic fans who have agreed to cover the imprint for our DC Fans channel. First up is Tiffany from ComicPOP, who’s covering the line’s flagship title, Doom Patrol by Gerard Way and Nick Derington. You can check out her review of the just released DOOM PATROL #4 below.
Look for Tiffany’s further insights on the series as new issues of Doom Patrol are released each month. Plus, keep an eye on DC Fans and DCComics.com to discover which intrepid souls will be taking on the other three books in the line.
So what are you waiting for? You like intelligent, surprising comics that feature bizarre, amazing heroes and the occasional alien poet? Then it’s time to join the club.
