Parents. They always know how to ask the tough questions. It’s true on Earth, and apparently, also on Mars.

At least that seems to be the case in a new Supergirl Season 3 deleted scene that DC exclusively debuted today. In it, D.E.O. Director and overall head honcho J’onn J’onzz finds himself questioning his work/life balance after revealing to Winn Schott that his recently rediscovered father, M’yrnn, accused him of spending far too much time at the office.

It’s an interesting scene for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is seeing J’onn frustrated with his father—someone whom for much of the rest of the season, J’onn only spoke of in admiring terms. However, it also helps to set up J’onn’s fateful choice at the end of the season when he chose to leave his position at the D.E.O. to carve a new, fully independent path.

If you’ve been holding off on watching Supergirl’s excellent third season, or are a Supergirl megafan looking to rewatch it before the show’s fourth season debuts on October 14th, you might want to clear your schedule for the next week or two as Supergirl: The Complete Third Season is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Along with all of the Season 3 episodes, the collection also includes the full, four-episode long “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover event, as well as several featurettes, a gag reel and a nice batch of additional deleted scenes.

As fans can tell you, Supergirl’s third season brought action, twists, emotion and plenty of DC lore to the series, including the introduction of the Legion of Super-Heroes and the ruthless Morgan Edge, who joined the ranks of Lex Luthor and Maxwell Lord in proving just how destructive a non-powered villain can be to a Kryptonian. It also introduced us to Reign and the Worldkillers, in a story that had ties to Kara’s homeworld of Krypton. This storyline found the team grappling with some moral questions, the repercussions of which still have yet to be resolved. It also featured one of the best one-on-one fights the show has ever staged between Odette Annable’s relentless Reign and Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl.
