For the citizens of Central City, there’s a new king in town, and he rules with an iron—and ice cold—fist. Captain Cold, fueled by one of Lex Luthor’s many mysterious “gifts,” has managed to take control of Central City and shape it into his own image. Alongside him, unsurprisingly, are his loyal gang of Rogues. And the Flash? Well, time’s not exactly racing for him these days as he counts away the hours imprisoned in Snart’s uniquely designed prison, Ice Heights. (Just saying, if their prison motto isn’t “Where Shivers Meet Shivs,” it really should be.)
How Captain Cold managed to capture the Scarlet Speedster is a mystery, but one thing that’s crystal clear is that while Barry’s chained up, there’s no one up to the task of keeping Central City’s new king in check…as Commander Cold would likely remind you. (If he’s even still alive.) Of course, Barry Allen has never been the sort of person to sit still for long, and in this week’s The Flash #83, he manages to escape from Captain Cold’s prison with a little help from…well, we don’t want to spoil the surprise. But if you’d like to find out who’s Steve McQueening it with our fast friend, all you need to do is check out our exclusive preview. We suggest reading it with a warm, cozy beverage because this one’s guaranteed to give you chills.
The Flash #83 by Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona and Arif Prianto is in stores Wednesday.
