“The grungy horror of John Constantine, as reported by Jamie Delano, is as politically smart, as streetwise, and as enjoyable now as when it was first published. If you ever wondered where yuppies really come from, or the right way to talk to a zombie, you’d better read this book.” –Neil Gaiman

“Though Moore imbued Constantine with many of his defining characteristics, he rocketed to prominence under the care of writers like Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis…” –Empire Online

The first volume of Vertigo’s longest running series that stars England’s chain-smoking, low-rent magus.

Welcome to the haunted world of black magic, demons, and the ghosts of past mistakes—the world of John Constantine, Hellblazer. Constantine is a hero, of sorts, who manages to come out on top through a combination of luck, trickery, and genuine magical skill. With his sharp tongue and unequalled shrewdness, the sorcerer from Liverpool has managed to raise himself to a position as rarified as it is dangerous: being the magician of last resort for a world under constant siege from the forces of chaos and evil. That same rough path has also sharpened his mind, and taught him a thing or two about ruthlessness.

Collecting the beginning of the signature Vertigo series together with the Constantine tie-in story from SWAMP THING, this expanded edition of ORIGINAL SINS kicks off one of the most remarkable sagas of horror and dark fantasy in all of graphic literature.

About the Author: Born in 1954, Jamie Delano has made a diverse, cross-genre contribution to the comic book medium, scripting—over some 25 years—both original works (World Without End, TAINTED, GHOSTDANCING, Hell Eternal, CRUEL AND UNUSUAL, Territory, OUTLAW NATION) and publisher-owned properties (Captain Britain, Dr Who, Night Raven, HELLBLAZER, ANIMAL MAN, BATMAN, Shadowman). He is currently practicing for retirement, living in semi-rural England with his partner, Sue.
