Welcome back to another Couch Club Easter egg hunt! If this is your first time (hi, new people!), this is our monthly look at some the comic book references hidden away in some of your favorite DCTV shows.
Hi, Couch Clubbers! I’m sure you’re noticing all the Batman party favors we have laying around. Forgive the mess, but we’re doing lots of celebrating this week, and hope that you’ll join us!
Black Lightning is a heavy family drama at its core. The Pierce family and Tobias’ clan of broken misfits couldn’t be more different. They are, however, similar in a particular way.
I love watching all the DCTV shows, but my friends won’t let me watch with them anymore. They complain that I interrupt the shows too many times to point out things like, “Hey, that’s a story element from this or that Silver Age comic.”
I hope all of you have been watching Supergirl this season because it’s been firing on all cylinders! Season four has tackled hate crimes and transphobia while still giving us plenty of light-hearted moments.
Alright, readers, I finally get to write about Black Lightning and I could not be more thrilled! It’s such a special show and I have been dying to dive into it here with you for the Couch Club!
On Gotham last season, Barbara seemed more far gone than ever. She allied herself with Ra’s al Ghul, became the leader of the League of Shadows and began a gender war against all men. This year, she’s noticeably calmed down.
I’ve written so much about The Flash since DC launched the Couch Club, and I’ve often made the assertion that the show excels when it’s dealing with the theme of family. I think this extends to the villains as well.
