On Tuesday, we made the announcement in USA Today that DC was undertaking a historic renumbering of 52 superhero titles across the line, starting with JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 by our superstar creators Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.
Back in March, we announced BRIGHTEST DAY AFTERMATH, the follow-up miniseries to the New York Times bestselling series, BRIGHTEST DAY. After the events in BRIGHTEST DAY #23 in April, we disclosed the series’ full title, BRIGHTEST DAY AFTERMATH: THE SEARCH FOR SWAMP THING.
April's DOC SAVAGE #13 kicks off a six-issue story arc written by extraordinary artist (and Doc Savage fan) J.G. Jones, whom DCU readers will recognize from his outstanding cover work on Final Crisis, 52, Wonder Woman and of course Doc Savage and First Wave. The first part of J.G.'s globe-trotting adventure kicks off in the Egyptian wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spans all the way to Cairo, which gives him the perfect excuse to give us this painting of DOC SAVAGE fighting a mummy.
In addition to the 75th anniversary covers we’ll be rolling out here on The Source this week and beyond, we’ve also got a first look at DC UNIVERSE: LEGACIES #1 for you. As some of you know, LEGACIES spans five generations of heroes, from the dawn of the Mystery Men to the present. In the first issue, the Second World War rages on, setting the stage for the debut of a new hero. Masked myths become legends as they begin to step outside of the shadows to earn their place in history.
We’ve got some live news this afternoon, as Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler phones in from Philadelphia, where he’s attending a signing by superstar artist J.G. Jones. What’s the good word, Ian? "I stopped off in Philly to talk with JG Jones about his next top secret project for DC and got to roll to his signing/art show at the super rad new location of Atomic City Comics. If you're in the area make sure to come by and see us." Oh, and he sends photos. Nice way to end the week. See you all Monday! [gallery link="file"]
Been enjoying FIRST WAVE, writer Brian Azzarello and artist Rags Morales' neo-noir adventure featuring Doc Savage, the Spirit and the Bat-Man? Good to hear. The second issue of the mini-series hits later this month, but why wait for some new art? Here's a first look at the cover to the second issue, from superstar artist J.G. Jones.
If that lengthy preview this morning wasn't enough for you, then we have another piece of lovely art to make Friday all the more fun. Courtesy of cover artist extraordinaire J.G. Jones, here's a peek at The Bat-Man, from the cover to FIRST WAVE #3. And for those of you that missed it the first time, we've included Lee Bermejo's lovely FIRST WAVE #3 variant.
