The Man of Steel: It's Time to Air My Most Shameful Secret...

I've been harboring a really shameful secret for my entire life. But readers, I'm finally ready to share it with the world. Just don't judge me too harshly, okay? Here goes.

Despite being a big fan of the comic book genre—in films and on television—I have never actually read any comic books.

Why Krypto Matters

There are so many iconic Superman supporting characters. Lois Lane always jumps to mind (and I’ll fight anyone who doesn’t agree that she is the most important female character to ever come out of DC…or any other comic book publisher, for that matter). What is interesting about a character of alien origin like Superman is that his supporting cast and crew expands beyond the other characters that inhabit Metropolis or the rest of the planet. And sometimes, they aren’t even human.

Building Boyzarro: Patrick Gleason Expands the Bizarroverse

Since the launch of Rebirth in 2016, Patrick Gleason and Peter J. Tomasi have reinvigorated the Man of Steel through a series of powerful standalone stories in the pages of SUPERMAN. They’ve featured Lex Luthor, Eradicator, Apokolips and Mister Oz, among many others, but not Bizarro. Not until today’s SUPERMAN #42.

This Just Happened: The Truth About Mr. Oz is Revealed

There’s never been a family fight quite like what we’ve been seeing in “The Oz Effect,” the pivotal Superman storyline that wrapped up this week in ACTION COMICS #991. Since its start, we’ve learned that Mr. Oz is really Jor-El, Superman’s Kryptonian father, who didn’t actually die during the destruction of Krypton, but found himself sent to Earth where he witnessed some of mankind’s brutal tendencies firsthand.

This Just Happened: Lois Lane Borrows the Batmobile

Forget Superman. If we ever wind up in trouble, we want Lois Lane to save us!

If you’ve read this week’s SUPERMAN #22 by Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason and Doug Mahnke, you know what we're talking about. Despite his name being on the cover, Superman doesn’t show up until the very end. Prior to that, we’re treated to eighteen pages of mystery, suspense and action starring none other than the Daily Planet’s most intrepid reporter.
