Krypton: Superman's High Stakes History

Considering how well we know the Man of Steel, it’s almost startling how little we know about Krypton. In fact, for many people, the beginning and end of their knowledge about Superman’s home planet is its destruction. They know how the people of Krypton died…but they have very little knowledge of how they actually lived.

Georgina Campbell: Growing Up Zod

It’s one of the most infamous relationships in all of comics, encompassing two diametrically opposed mindsets that have been in continual conflict throughout years of comics and across two blockbuster films. We’re talking about the relationship between Superman and General Zod—two Kryptonians with very different worldviews. It’s a conflict that has played out through generations of Els and Zods, long before the destruction of Krypton.

Krypton is Not Like Any Other #DCTV Show

I’m just going to come right out and say it. There are a lot of #DCTV shows on the air right now.

Now, this isn’t a bad thing. There’s a lot of variety within them and having so much #DCTV on the air these past few years has led to some of the best, most creative comic-inspired storytelling we’ve ever seen on the small screen. But in spite of this, I think we can all agree that it’s a lot to keep up with, particularly for anyone who’s trying to follow them all.

Krypton (2018 - Present)

What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, as a young man who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position.  He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

Krypton is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight Trilogy”) through his Phantom Four banner, alongside Cameron Welsh, who serves as showrunner. In addition to Cuffe, Sipos and Ritson, the show also stars Georgina Campbell (“Broadchurch”), Elliot Cowan (“Da Vinci’s Demons”), Ann Ogbomo (“World War Z”), Rasmus Hardiker (“Your Highness”), Wallis Day (“Will”), Aaron Pierre (“Tennison”) and Ian McElhinney (“Game of Thrones”). Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

This Just Happened: Superman Takes on Six Enemies...Blind!

Admittedly, I say this a lot, but I REALLY wouldn’t want to be Superman right now. But before we get into all the reasons why, can we just take a moment and admire the very first page from this week’s ACTION COMICS #982?

There’s nothing quite like seeing a grown Kryptonian throwing a temper tantrum, is there?

Supergirl: Nevertheless, Supergirl Persisted

The penultimate episode of Supergirl's second season left National City in danger from the Daxamite invasion. Though I was never really worried Kara would fail at protecting her city in the finale, "Nevertheless, She Persisted," it was a close call. The DEO and Kara had to make a hard decision to win the day, and while I don't have a better option in mind for eliminating the Daxamite threat, I'm not positive I agree with their actions.

DC All Access - Bonus Clip - Superman/Wonder Woman Battle Zod/Faora!

In this exclusive bonus clip from DC All Access, Tiffany talks to Superman/Wonder Woman writer Charles Soule about what happens when one superpowered couple throws down with another one and why combining romance with action has worked so well in the comic.
