Welcome to What's New in The New 52 – where you, the fans, get a sneak peek at the stuff that crosses our desks. This little feature is a way to keep you all in the loop about what's new, different and exciting in The New 52 – whether it's a character design, cover, splash page or panel.

Hitting stores next month, THE FLASH #25 is not only a “Zero Year” tie-in, but it also serves as the final issue of the series from its New 52 inaugural creative team, Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato. Plus, the issue serves as a prologue of sorts to the duo’s run on DETECTIVE COMICS, which kicks off next spring!

“I also want to take the opportunity to say Brian will be writing issues #27 to #29 of THE FLASH and hopefully the idea is to wrap up some of the things we didn't quite get around to during our run,” Manapul told COMIC BOOK RESOURCES at New York Comic Con last month. “Unfortunately I'll have to be jumping ahead to get rolling on DETECTIVE but I think if anybody is a fan of our work they should definitely stick around for that. And another teaser is if anybody reading THE FLASH #25 which is a Batman ‘Zero Year’ tie-in our story continues in DETECTIVE from there. There are definitely elements in there that will carry over into our DETECTIVE run.”

In THE FLASH #25, you’ll meet a young Barry Allen before he’s realized his full potential as the Scarlet Speedster. A recent graduate from the Police Academy, Barry finds himself partnered with Harvey Bullock in Gotham City when he volunteers to go help the city deal with the chaos brought on by the events of "Zero Year." But Harvey is not thrilled with working with someone so young and inexperienced, leaving Barry to team up with Gotham Gazette intern Iris West to help solve the case of a mysterious drug appearing on the streets of the city that is causing people to spontaneously burst into flames. And it’s in this first meeting between Barry and Iris that the “will they or won’t they” tension is introduced to their relationship.

In the gallery above, take a look at some of Chris Sprouse and Francis Manapul's interior art for THE FLASH #25, which speeds into stores on December 4.

Enjoy your weekend!
