We're not keeping secrets—unlike Rip Hunter.

The #DCTV universe expands with Rip Hunter's travels into the past. He manages to pull together a motley crew to hunt Vandal Savage, and though they gained some valuable information on their first outing, they didn't uncover everything.

Here are the #DCTV Secrets from the first episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow:

  • Who is Rip Hunter?
  • Who is Chronos?
  • How about the name of that ship?

Ripping Into the Future and the Past

The Legends of Tomorrow pilot introduces us to a time-traveling adventurer called Rip Hunter. First appearing in SHOWCASE #20, Rip Hunter has transformed over time—the key word being time. He's always involved in jumping around the past and the future, usually in his invention called the Time-Sphere. He's helped all sorts of heroes travel into different periods to stop ne'er-do-wells and villains... much like he's doing now.

The Ultimate in Time Management

Rip Hunter isn't the only new character in town. Because Rip broke the rules, the Time Masters Council sent Chronos to find him. Apparently they take protecting the timeline seriously. Chronos first appeared in THE ATOM #3 and often faced off against Ray Palmer. He began his career as a petty criminal and trained himself to learn the rhythm of time to use it to his advantage. His studies and inventions got more and more advanced; he even became capable of building a fully functional time machine.

Catching a Wave

Rip Hunter's ship, you know, the one he "commandeered," is called Waverider. The name wasn't used just because it sounds catchy; it has a time-traveling history. Waverider, also known as Matthew Ryder, is a superhero time traveler who first appeared in ARMAGEDDON 2001 #1. He could access and monitor the time stream and predict a person's future.
