DC All Access, our webseries devoted to all things DC Entertainment, returns next week with more news and excitement. We have to say, the DC office just isn’t the same without Tiffany and Jason roaming the floors, cameras in tow, trying to get us to spill secrets about our latest comic books, movies, TV shows and games. But before we welcome them back, we thought we’d take a little time to clean up our desks, hit the gym (the camera adds ten pounds, after all) and spend a little time revisiting your picks for the best DC All Access moments of the year so far!
Over the past month, we’ve conducted user polls asking you to vote for your favorite DC All Access episode, as well as the best games, comics and list clip. With so many great clips, picking favorites couldn’t have been easy, but you proved more than up to the task, offering us four great segments that represent the best of the series. So which clips made the cut? Let’s find out!
Best Episode of DC All Access: SDCC Day 4: BvS Cast Signing - Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot + Flash & Arrow
With all of the exciting news that breaks each year at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s hardly surprising that you’d pick an SDCC episode for your favorite of the bunch. Especially since this one included footage of the first signing featuring most of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast. And that was just the start, the episode includes interviews with many of the stars of #DCTV, including Arrow and the Flash themselves, Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin, plus a whole heap of comic book news.
It’s also worth pointing out some of the information that was provided in the clip that might have been missed on your first go-round. Gustin hinted that he might be meeting Wally West this season on The Flash, a fact that was confirmed a month later, and Brandon Routh revealed that he will in fact be capable of shrinking to the subatomic level on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (it wasn’t clear from the trailer). Check it out, if you haven’t seen it. It’s a great clip… even if we never actually found any Batman pretzels.
Best Games Clip: Rocksteady’s Arkham Trilogy – The Story So Far
In early June, the anticipation for Batman: Arkham Knight was reaching near fevered levels, so it’s little surprise that this clip summing up the storyline of both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City would rack up over 350,000 views (and counting). Whether you played the first two games or not, this clip was the perfect way to get up to speed on the world of Arkham before diving into Rocksteady’s masterpiece of a final chapter. And while the segment is chock full of spoilers, it did leave plenty to discover for anyone who hadn’t yet played the first two games. (No, your console is NOT broken!)
Best Comics Clip: Is Endgame the End of Scott Snyder on Batman?
Batman rules in comic shops, so it’s hardly surprising that a Batman clip beat out some stiff competition from Geoff Johns, Jim Lee and Grant Morrison for our best comic book segment. While “Endgame” represented the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman (at least for a little while), if you thought it might have seemed like Scott Snyder was saying goodbye to the book as well, you weren’t entirely wrong. In this clip, which was shot near the end of the storyline, Snyder revealed that “Endgame” was initially envisioned as his final Batman story. As anyone reading his current Mr. Bloom storyline can attest, we’re lucky he decided to stick around for more!
Best DC All Access List: Top 7 Sinister Joker Moments
When a DC All Access clip begins with a viewer discretion warning—our only one in the history of the show—you know you’re in for something shocking. But what else do you expect when the subject is the Joker and the list is of his seven most sinister moments? The Killing Joke, The Dark Knight Returns, Death of the Family and Death IN the Family… They’re all represented in a list that reveals just how much darkness lurks under that grinning white face. And speaking of faces…well, just watch the clip!
Honorable Mention: All 217 LEGO Batman 3 Characters Sung in 136 Seconds
Yes, we know this post is all about your choices for best clips, but we couldn’t wrap this up without highlighting this personal favorite of ours. Why do we love it? Tiffany sings! But that’s just the beginning. We love how the song speeds up as it goes along and she doesn’t miss a beat. We love that the song includes all of the different Batmans—trust us, there are tons! We love that Tiffany managed to sing “Mr. Mxyzptlk” without stuttering. We love that the song includes all of the oddball characters in the game like the Polka Dot Man, Green Loontern and Lex Luthor as Wonder Woman. And we really love how it ends with Jim Lee!
Seriously, check this one out, if you haven’t yet. It’s pretty great, regardless of whether or not you’ve played the game.
Solid choices all around! Congrats to everyone involved with the winning clips. Of course, if this is your first exposure to DC All Access, there’s a lot more where that came from. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for all the latest from DC All Access. New clips return next week!
